Hey, I have been trying to cut the cord for a long time but the one thing I can't get past is the lack of live TV (not just live net only shows). I currently have a mac mini with boxee and hulu installed, but what can I do to get actual live tv through it??

In reply to <a href="https://systembash.com/replacing-the-cable-box-boxee-and-live-hd-tv-via-acer-revo-3610/#comment-41767">Kevin C. Wise</a>.

Thanks Kevin. There has been zero development of the consumer version of BeyondTV. SageTV meanwhile has a new version. If you are looking to do a setup such as I have and you are starting from scratch I would probably recommend SageTV or even Windows Media Center which does DVR, but is not 'distributed' with a client-server architecture.

There are some cool things you can do with MythTV but they are all alpha and a nightmare to get installed. SageTV and WMC are the easiest and most consumer friendly ways to go.

I should do an update to my setup with thoughts on how it has held up over the year and directions it can go.

Hey Dave, great article. Any further updates as it looks like this is about 1 year old as I'm looking more and more at Boxee. Perhaps BeyondTV has made some advancements in 2010?

say im in boxee, so whenever you want to watch live tv, you have to "Alt-tab" switch app to BeyondTV app? if so, it ruins the boxee experience and having to do that with a remote? isn't there a BeyondTV boxee app or a shortcut in boxee that lets me view or watch the live TV so i don't have to leave boxee?
